Candidates will evaluate their work electronically. This MUST contain an element of audience feedback and may be either integrated with the presentation of the research and planning material or may be presented separately. Where candidates have worked in a group, the evaluation may be presented individually or collectively but the teacher must allocate a mark according the contribution/level of understanding demonstrated by the individual candidate.
The questions that must be addressed in the evaluation are:
1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
From the very start of making my I was influenced by teen movies, films like American pie and ferris buellers day of stuck out for me. In my film I exaggerate the stereotypes of a dork and bully I make it very clear by getting the definition and freezing the screen and having the text next to it. From the very start you get a massive idea of what the characters are like, you realize they are a complete contrast from each other and with that it can be amusing on how they react to each other.
2.How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My media represents the two classic school groups, the geek gang and the jock gang. I emphasized the clashing of the two gangs in the soundtrack, at the start its a dorky woodwind band music, and as you get first sight of the guy who is a jock a hip hop beat comes in so the woodwind band representing the geek mixes with the hip hop beat representing the jock. In every school there are certain school gangs, different social groups and there are generally the general geek and jock gangs, so most school teens can relate to this.
3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I chose to use companies like touchstone, because I can imagine them distributing this sort of film. I would also choose universal because they have been involved in similar films such as american pie. I would play it out in cinemas and after distribute it on DVD.
4.Who would be the audience for your media product?
Boys going to school around the characters ages, they can relate to the characters a lot more so it would work more to them. The characters are based around the typical people you would expect at a stereotyped school.
5.How did you attract/address your audience?
It would attract the age group of around 12- 17 because they can relate to the characters a lot more than an elder person. The poster and advert would be funny so they would interest people to see more about the movie. I have had some comments from a couple of my class mates who have enjoyed it, Will Bertram and Peter Taylor Fitch, who are the age I would like to aim this movie for both enjoyed it, and thought it had funny moments.
6.What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt how to edit in imovie and the also to work in after effects. I have improved my flash mx. I have also learnt how to operate a camera and also to operate as tripod.
7.Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
In the preliminary I broke the 180 degree rule at one point and from that point on I was very careful not to break the 180 degree rule. I’ve learnt to be very careful while filming outside and to make sure the camera battery is in charge.
